November 24, 2009Opponents of a national park in BC's Flathead River Valley, which adjoins Glacier National Park, have said there is not enough local public support for a park. We knew from talking to people in southeastern BC that support for a park is high, and we set out to demonstrate that with a poll. Conducted by Vancouver's McAllister Opinion Research, the poll shows that British Columbians who live close to the Flathead River Valley support a National Park at a rate of 2:1. It also shows that almost 80 percent of local residents support the creation of wildlife sanctuaries in southern B.C. where hunting and industrial activity would be banned.  The findings of the poll were covered by  B.C.'s biggest newspaper, the Vancouver Sun.
